About Us

We want to find creative pathways through the chaos of the times.

As everything seems to fracture and fall into doubt we want to find those  narratives that can bring people together.

As global challenges seem to overpower the smallest of hopes we want to find ways of empowering the dreamers.

We want to create in defiance of destruction.

We want to collaborate in defiance of isolation.

We’re gunna need some bigger stories.

Ashley trained as a director on the prestigious Birkbeck MFA.  This included secondments to Drama Centre London and the Motley School of Design. After winning the Director’s Guild Award he became the resident director at the Lyric Hammersmith. He was the assistant director on various critically acclaimed productions, working closely with the artistic director Sean Holmes as well as writers such as Edward Bond and Simon Stephens. He was the associate director on the premiere of Stephens’ Morning as well as the writer and director of three studio productions.

He then spent a year working and travelling across Europe particularly enjoying a festival residency at the Kammerspiele in Munich, a placement with Mala Voadora in Lisbon and writing a new version of Antigone for Greek and British actors in Athens.

He then returned to London to become a staff director at the Royal National Theatre, later becoming the resident director on the West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time during its run at the Apollo Theatre.

After this he worked in Spain for two years, writing and directing new plays as well as coaching actors and helping them attain places at UK drama schools.

Since his return to London, he has worked with an eclectic mix of theatres and companies. Most importantly however, he has established Metalore Theatre Company with whom he is making new work as well as running courses built to empower new and aspiring theatre makers.
